ASUS announced that it has successfully hosted its annual event – Master DIY Tour for the 3rd year running in Malaysia.
Themed ‘BYOC LAN Party’ (short term for ‘Bring-Your-Own-Computer’ Local Area Network Party), this was the first ever LAN-based gaming event hosted by ASUS Malaysia. It was done in collaboration with Cyberview and Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre (MaGIC) to nurture continual interest in custom DIY (‘Do-It-Yourself’) PC building amongst the local PC enthusiasts and the gaming communities.
Over 90 individuals participated in the event which was also recorded as the first and largest gaming get-together in Malaysia took place on the June 13th – 15th, 2014 at the MaGIC Centre, Cyberjaya.
This technical gaming gathering was organized in collaboration with Cyberview and MaGIC, targeted at tech enthusiasts, power users and gamers nationwide who share common interests in custom PC building and assembly. The event served as a platform to meet up their fellow peers, exchange ideas and share technical knowledge on PC hardware.
Jacky Lim, Business Development Director at ASUS Malaysia shares, “Themed as BYOC LAN Party, this Master DIY event featured gaming tournaments and activities whereby it gathered both casual and hard-core gamers to bring their own PC and connect under the same LAN to indulge in day-and-night long gaming sessions.”
“This is a fantastic outlet for older gamers who sought out LAN-based gaming parties that were popular before the arrival of Web-based network era. It was a special get-away event intended to connect the older generations’ gamers with the younger, interact through gameplays and at the same time to discuss hardware architectures, blueprints, product designs and more.”

On a special highlight, the event showcased a Desk PC – codenamed ‘Red Devil’ (pic), which was developed by Vector, the local Desk PC manufacturer in collaboration with A.P.E.S, the custom water cooling and high-end PC hardware provider. Powered by Intel Core i7 4790K ‘Devil’s Canyon’ CPU, MAXIMUS VII Hero motherboard and Poseidon GTX 780 Platinum SLI graphics cards, the ultimate gaming machine offers PC users a superior experience in gaming and an optimal performance for OverClocking.
Lim adds, “The Master DIY event was also an opportunity for ASUS to express its appreciation to the end-users who have been their loyal customers.”
In conjunction, ASUS introduced its latest hardware editions for tech users. Lim shares that the participants of Master DIY Tour also had the privilege to preview the upcoming ASUS 9 Series Motherboards—Z97 mainstream motherboard, TUF and ROG motherboard (pic) — in Malaysia.
“The ASUS 9 series motherboards are built around the two new Intel’s Chipsets – Z97 Express and H97 Express. It is fully designed to feature extreme performance for professional use, gaming, content creation, servers or even simple everyday computing.”
Some of the other hardware editions that were displayed during the event including the Strix GTX 780 graphics card and Pro headset, Essence STX II soundcard and PB287Q 4K Ultra HD display monitor for impeccable audio and visual quality.
He further shares, “ASUS’ Strix gaming graphics card was the first to integrate with 0dB fan technology in the market. And, the entire Strix gaming series is a new product line of ASUS which will be launching soon in Malaysia.”
First held in 2012, ASUS Malaysia’s annual Master DIY events have been a platform tailored to serve tech individuals who embrace DIY PC as a hobby and their needs whilst further strengthening the relationships between ASUS and the power users’ community in Malaysia.
