VADS Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) launched in partnership with IBM

Malaysia-based VADS Berhad (VADS) has signed an agreement with IBM Malaysia Sdn Bhd to launch Malaysia’s first Virtual Private Cloud (VPC).

VADS chief executive officer En Ahmad Azhar Yahya, MDeC CEO Datuk Badlisham Ghazali and IBM Malaysia managing director Paul Moung.

Targeted at large enterprises in Malaysia such as the Government, VPC offers a full spectrum of customised cloud computing services. Hosted in Malaysia, this enterprise grade private cloud solution fulfils customers’ requirement for flexible cloud computing solutions without the need of high upfront investments and skilled resources to deliver on-demand computing flexibility in a secured environment.

As part of the agreement, IBM’s cloud technologies will underpin the new offering from VADS, making it enterprise grade in terms of reliability, scalability, and security. VADS will use IBM’s SmartCloud orchestrators, Tivoli Netcool configuration manager, and PureFlex systems in developing the VPC.

Both companies also agreed to deliver collaborative cloud offerings ranging from Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Platform-as-a-Service to Enterprises SaaS.

“We noticed a strong demand amongst our customers for an affordable, reliable, secure and versatile computing platform; and our VPC is able to meet these business needs. Depending on user requirements, the VPC can act as a secondary Data Centre for organisations which may already have existing IT infrastructure at their premise. Our Data Centres and Cloud Service are both ISO 27001-certified while our network is powered by TM’s high-speed IP network with domestic and global coverage. This VPC offering complements VADS’ existing cloud offering and as an Integrated Managed Services provider, the VPC will enable VADS to provide value added services which in turn will enhance our customers’ experience,” said Ahmad Azhar.

The implementation of cloud ready infrastructure and innovative solutions will simplify and enhance business operations by making the infrastructure fully automated to increase user experience and control. The deployment will also include Backup-as-a-Service and Disaster Recovery-as-a-Service to ensure data protection and business continuity.

“IBM has a proven record of successful partnerships with communications service providers globally and we are keen to replicate this success with VADS,” said Paul Moung. “We are excited to work with VADS to develop this robust cloud infrastructure and create superior service experience for our clients. We envision tremendous cloud opportunity in Malaysia and both VADS and IBM are expected to benefit from this partnership.”
