PIKOM said that APICTA is widely regarded as the foremost industry showcase for excellence in ICT. It serves as the industry’s most acclaimed platform to recognise “ground-breaking achievements, creativity and innovation” while also providing the launch-pad for local ICT companies to make their mark. Past winners have gone on to greater success at the international level; companies such as Fusionex, MDT Innovation and Les Copaque are among the notable names, it said.

Calling for participants nationwide, APICTA is initiated by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDeC) together with PIKOM and has received the patronage of the Prime Minister since its inception in 1999.

PIKOM Chairman Chin Chee Seong (CS Chin) says that APICTA winners benefit from publicity and exposure to venture capitalists and investors, leveraging the coveted Award brand to benchmark their ICT products and services.

“Other benefits include opportunities to go on marketing missions, to attend various Entrepreneurship Development Programmes at renowned institutions and the right to use the prestigious APICTA Awards logo,” says Chin.

In 2015, Malaysian companies bagged three Winner and five Merit awards at APICTA in Sri Lanka. The winners were Chong Hwa Independent High School in the School Project category, BNetworks Sdn Bhd in the Communication category and Green Data Center LLP in the Sustainability and Environment Technology category.

Chin says that that in today’s globalised environment, companies must be open to competition to sharpen their capabilities for continuous improvement. Hence, APICTA’s role as a stage for companies to step out of the shadow, to compete and to emerge better.

“If you wish to know how good you really are, if you’re looking to accelerate your progress and growth or if you’re looking to get into the spotlight, then APICTA is your likely best opportunity in 2016 – as APICTA is the one award that will best launch the success of many Malaysian companies,” he says.

Offering 19 award categories, APICTA is open to individuals, students, entrepreneurs, SMEs and organisations operating in Malaysia. The large number of categories is aimed at better capturing the dynamic landscape and innovative spirit of the local ICT industry.
