MCMC seizes 5,000 IPTV decoders

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) seized 5,000 Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) decoders, which do not meet the SIRIM standards, in three separate raids here. MCMC Network Security and Enforcement Sector chief executive Zulkarnain Mohd Yasin said the raids, which began at 10 am, were mounted with the cooperation from the police.

He said the first raid was conducted at a supermarket in Masai, followed by the second raid on a house in Kulai and a warehouse at Jalan Mutiara 6, Plentong Industrial Park, Pasir Gudang.

“We received a report from MYTV Broadcasting Sdn Bhd about the selling of IPTV decoders, which do not meet the stipulated standards, in the market. “Five individuals, including a woman, will be called soon to assist in the investigations,” he told reporters at the Seri Alam district police headquarters here today.
