Telekom Malaysia (TM) have announced a new offer called ‘Thank You Surprise’.
The Malaysia’s Broadband Champion said ‘Thank You Surprise’ is an appreciation campaign for all TM loyal customers from the residential segment who have subscribed to Telekom Malaysia services by 28 February 2017.
It also said the campaign is part of TM’s initative under Broadband Improvement Plan in conjunction with the Prime Minister’s announcement during Budget 2017 last year.
The PM’s exact words as below:
“I’m pleased to announce effective January 2017, fixed line broadband service providers will offer services at a higher speed for the same price.
“For example, a subscriber of 5 megabytes per second package at RM149 will enjoy a package with twice the speed, which is 10 megabytes per second.
“Within the next two years, for this package, the speed will be doubled with the reduction in prices by 50%,” he said.
However, it appears not all existing TM Unifi and Streamyx will be enjoying the double speed offer at the same price. It also seem these customers may not enjoy a speed upgrade at all. Most of these uses are offered the options below:
- Monthly RM10 Unifi/Streamyx bill rebate for 12-months if they subscribe to Telekom Malaysia’s webe mobile at RM79/month
- Free HyppTV Pack for 12-months
- GEMFIVE Coupon

S Tajul Malik based on 2017 budget, DS Najib announced free upgrade for fixed broadband. Streamyx is also a fixed broadband. So streamyx and unifi users should be treated equally and get the speed upgrade. If TM is not able to upgrade the streamyx speed, then reduce the price.

s2000c Unfair promotion and infrastructure for Unifi js unavailable for my area . Thank you surprise is unfair treat to streamyx user compare with Unifi user .
1.streamyx paid more price compare to Unifi in term of the per mb download and upload .
2. Service of Unifi unavailable in my house area.
3. Some streamyx user got the promotion of rm88 for 4mpbs for some state .
4. Charge for the billing if late .Rm30 for service indoor .
5 unfair promotion and misleading for hypptv . Bundle mean basic channel only
6 never inform there is term of 24 month .
