iFIBER is expected to launch in Cyberjaya today.

iFIBER builds an open access fiber network which means that iFIBER is not a service provider but simply installs the infrastructure. Residents can then choose from a number of Internet Service Providers for internet packages with “competitive prices”.

At the moment, iFIBER is only available in Cyberjaya and offers packages from Setia Haruman Technology (Cyberjaya Broadband). The service cost around RM149/month for a 100Mbps, RM399 for 1Gbps, 24-months contract.

Not much details are available yet but the service may be operated by a company called CME Asia Sdn Bhd.

iFIBER appears to be related to VXFIBER (https://www.vx.se/), a Swedish technology company that invests, manages and operates “true FTTH open access networks globally”.

VXFIBER’s fiber network is currently available in Sweden, UK, South Africa, Austria and Italy.

VXFIBER says that it “partners with local authorities, real estate owners, investors, land owners and communities when deploying networks and partners with service providers who are able to offer products and services direct to the subscriber via a self provisioning web based portal.”

At this time, no official announcement yet regarding its involvement in Malaysia but there’s a iFIBER link on VXFIBER website- https://ifiber.vx.se/public/
