Taking the market by storm when it first appeared in 2017, the Mate 10 Series has been applauded for being the first of its kind to be equipped with the Kirin AI processor, HUAWEI FullView display as well as providing a wide range of out-of-the-box features.

“With this new Face Unlock feature, customers can look forward to a much more secured and private usage of data and information. Ensuring optimum convenience for all HUAWEI Mate 10 Series users, this feature comes in after the overwhelmingly received fingerprint sensor and password, enabling users to retain data in a much more secured and private setting. Customer centricity remains to be our key pillar as we adopt technological advancement to create a more connected world,” said Bill Liu, Country Director of HUAWEI Malaysia.

Using advanced facial recognition software, customers can customize their own settings for the feature. Once complete, the settings can recognize a customer’s facial features within mere seconds. This gives our customers the edge it needs to maintain their vibrant lifestyle. On top of that, it comes in handy, especially when their hands are wet.

Sticking to its image as a consumer-friendly product, HUAWEI Mate 10 Series Face Unlock feature also includes two other options: 1) Direct unlock or 2) Slide to unlock.

The former works best as it allows users to unlock the device using minimum effort. On the other hand, the latter option takes it a step further by synergizing with the “Smart Lock Screen Notifications”. When enable, the device blocks all notifications from being viewed unless the device itself is unlocked. One way or another, both options are designed in a way to provide users with the liberty to choose the option that best suit their preferences.

Putting our customer’s satisfaction as a number one priority, HUAWEI has taken a unique approach to ensure maximum protection along the way. Simply follow the steps below to enable the “Face Unlock” feature:

  1. Go to Settings > Security & privacy > Face unlock
  2. First time users will be given a brief introduction to Face Unlock, and tips to speed up face enrolment.
  3. Users must read and accept the disclaimer before proceeding.
  4. Users may now enroll their face following on-screen prompts.
  5. After creating a facial profile, users may choose between two modes: Direct unlock and Slide to unlock.
  6. Face unlock setup is now complete.
