Qorus Alliance Welcomes CAT Telecom as First Thailand Member

Kuala Lumpur, 03 May 2018 – Qorus Mobile Alliance (Qorus Alliance or the Alliance), the consortium of leading mobile operators across Asia, welcomes CAT Telecom Public Company Limited (CAT) as its first Thailand member. With Thailand as its newest partner market, the Alliance now covers 14 of the most populous countries in Asia, including India, Indonesia and Bangladesh.

A state-owned enterprise focused in mobile, fixed, wholesale telecommunication and digital services, CAT joins the Alliance for greater access to international roaming revenue and higher volume of inbound steered roamers into Thailand. Col. Dr. Sanpachai Huvanandana, President of CAT said, “Our membership into Qorus Alliance as its first Thailand affiliate fast-tracks our access to the high-yielding inbound roaming market from over 30 million visitors each year into Thailand. We are confident that by collaborating with other leading operators in this region through Qorus Alliance, with a collective base in excess of 400 million customers, we will be able to capture a significant value from this membership.”

As part of its growth plans, Qorus Alliance looks to further enhance the impact of the Alliance and the level of engagement of its members through a focus on highly relevant industry collaboration initiatives such as Internet of Things (IoT), value-adding digital and loyalty partnerships for its members’ customers, and selected non-traditional partners in the digital ecosystem. Formed in 2014, Qorus Alliance is committed to developing a seamless mobile roaming and digital services experience to customers across its combined footprint, and to delivering enhanced products and services in the telecommunications and digital space.

Dominic replaces Asri Hassan as Chairman of the Alliance effective 23 April 2018. The members of Qorus Alliance thank Asri for his dedication and valuable contribution during this tenure as Chairman. Dominic is currently Group Chief Strategy & Marketing Officer of Axiata Group Berhad and a Director of Qorus members Dialog Axiata Plc and Ncell Pvt Ltd. He has over 23 years’ experience in the telecoms, media and technology sectors having held executive roles with global telecom operators including Vodafone, Orange and British Telecom as well as for leading strategy advisory firms.
