Digi trying to stop customers from porting to U Mobile GX50?

Recently I have noticed a few Digi postpaid customers claiming that they have given rebate in monthly fees or free hotspot quota after they decided to port to U Mobile GX50 plan.

Digi appears to be targeting selected postpaid customers, mostly on the Digi Infinite plan which is very similar to the much cheaper U Mobile GX50 postpaid plan.

One Digi postpaid customer who requested to port out to U Mobile GX50 postpaid plan said he got a call from Digi with an offer- RM20 rebate a month for the next 1 year and free upgrade to 10Mbps. Digi managed to changed his mind from porting to U Mobile. The customer is now paying RM60/month for the Digi postpaid plan.

Similarly, one customer also said he is paying RM60 a month after Digi found out he was porting to the U Mobile GX50 plan.

Another customer who also wanted to port out to U Mobile GX50 postpaid plan was counter-offered by Digi with free 5GB hotspot data. He told me that he is on the Digi Infinite 80 postpaid plan. Back then, Digi only offered the free 5GB hotspot quota to the 1st 10,000 customers who signed up for Infinite 80.

Apparently, Digi is quietly upgrading the speed of customers on Digi Infinite 80 and Infinite 100 plans to 10Mbps. Previous it was capped to 5Mbps with unlimited usage on smartphone.

The U Mobile GX50 postpaid plan cost RM50/month and comes with Unlimited Internet at 5Mbps and Unlimited Calls, no contract.
