Boost mobile wallet now available in Sabah

Today marks the beginning of a new digital era for Sabah with the launch of Boost in the region. Sabahans can now enjoy the convenience of going cashless and cardless as Malaysia’s #homegrown e-wallet app expands in this region with over 700 merchants and counting going cashless with Boost. Consumers can enjoy the convenience and experience at merchants like Orange convenience store, Bataras hypermarket, KK International Airport Taxi, A Square Container night market, City Cineplex, City Optics, More Fun food delivery and food trucks, to name a few.

With over 30,000 merchants online and offline nationwide and close to 2.9 million users to date, Boost is undoubtedly the leading #homegrown e-wallet in Malaysia. Aiming to revolutionize the way Sabahans transact, this expansion marks another milestone for the #homegrown e-wallet brand.

“We are delighted to have Sabah join our efforts in Boosting Malaysia! We want to support customers and merchants alike in their digital transformation process and to offer an entirely new payment experience. While supporting the government’s aim in driving innovation and advanced technologies, the cornerstone of our business has always been to aid the underserved into the digital economy. With Boost, small businesses that are unable to access traditional financial channels are given opportunity to leave a digital footprint.” said Christopher Tiffin, Chief Executive Officer of Boost.

With an ambitious goal to have 100,000 merchants in Malaysia by the year end, the Boost targets to have 2,000 of its merchants located here in Sabah. The prospects of adoption and growth in East Malaysia is extremely encouraging, with promising partnerships with tertiary education institutions, public transportation services, parking and utility payment facilities.  This is only the beginning, as Boost continues to collaborate with more businesses to contribute in driving cashless payments and experiences in Sabah.

Chris added “With the primary focus on creating a payment experience that is easier, faster and secure for all users, Sabahans can now avoid the hassle of carrying cards and cash and embrace a more secure and rewarding option with Boost.”

With a wide merchant base nationwide, Boost is already available at selected pasar malam, food trucks, food courts and across various industries such as F&B, entertainment, transportation and online shopping. In addition to that, Boost’s recent partnership with UnionPay International (UPI), will allow the homegrown e-wallet to rapidly grow their merchant footprint nationwide as well as overseas.

As a lifestyle application, users can perform various services, from buying prepaid top ups and digital vouchers as well as gifting them, to free cash transfers and even “Go Dutch” with its unique split bills feature. Users are also rewarded with instant cash back via the “Shake” feature which is a gratifying and addictive experience.
