Ruckus Powers Wi-Fi Network Infrastructure for U.S./North Korea Summit

Ruckus Networks, an ARRIS company, recently announced that it deployed a high-performance Wi-Fi network at the International Media Center in Singapore for the United States of America during the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea Summit held in Singapore on June 12, 2018.

In partnership with Singtel Group Enterprise, Ruckus Networks was selected to design and deploy the carrier-grade wired and wireless networks that provided connectivity for international and local news agencies for approximately 2,500 media professionals, covering the historic event from the International Media Center. The media center was located at the Singapore F1 Pit Building for days before the summit on June 12.

“In order to provide our customers with high-quality services, Singtel partners with technology leaders such as Ruckus Networks, whose participation was essential in the design and deployment of the networks for the historic summit,” said Cobbie Chan, Associate Director, Global Delivery, Singtel. “We are committed to working closely with technology partners like Ruckus, as we strive to provide our users with the best possible network experience.”

“Providing seamless connectivity and great user experience is critical at Ruckus Networks,” said William Ho, Senior Vice President, Sales, Asia Pacific and Japan, ARRIS. “We are excited for the opportunity to partner with Singtel for this significant event. Ruckus differentiates by delivering high-performance network connectivity for high-density environments, including convention centers and stadiums. We are dedicated to delivering flawless connectivity that address both today’s and next-generation demands.”

The International Media Center has an approximate space of 23,000 square meters and was operating from 10 a.m. on June 10, to 10 p.m. on June 13. There were about 2,000 workstations with TV screens streaming live coverage of media events. This high-density environment with terminals and numerous connected devices from the thousands of media professionals and supporting staff created a complex environment where a stable, highperforming and interference-free Wi-Fi network was a critical requirement.

The network included Ruckus R710 APs, working in conjunction with Ruckus ICX7150 switches, deployed in a stacked topology to minimize on cabling and to improve redundancy. The network was successfully designed and deployed in just eight days, delivering seamless network connectivity for attending media to deliver live broadcasts and recorded coverage of this historic event.
