Fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim’s condition has stabilised, says his doctor at the National Heart Institute (IJN).
IJN cardiothoracic surgeon Datuk Dr Mohd Nazeri Nordin said that an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (Emco) machine was deployed for Muhammad Adib at around 1.30am Wednesday as soon as he arrived at IJN.
The machine, he said Dr Mohd Nazeri, provides circulatory and gas exchange support, which Muhammad Adib needed due to his serious chest injuries.
“His condition is stable but still in critical state,” he said.
Muhammad Adib was first admitted to the intensive care unit of the Ramsay Sime Darby Healthcare centre after he was injured in the line of duty at around 1am on Tuesday.
He was part of a team of nine firemen responding to a fire at the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in USJ 25 where rioters were protesting the temple’s relocation.
