P3 selected by Ericsson to provide crowdsourcing data for network optimization

P3, the international industry-leader in mobile network benchmarking and Ericsson, a leading provider in telecommunications technology and services, signed an agreement to better support service providers in 4G and their transition to 5G. Applying the P3 crowdsourcing based benchmarking methodology and related data, Ericsson will further enrich its services offering for operators. P3 data provides valuable insights into the networks for Ericsson to further enhance 5G readiness of its clients’ networks based on P3 crowd source data.

The P3 proprietary crowdsourced data deliver unprecedented knowledge on how customers use and experience mobile and fixed networks. It allows for a holistic view across individual voice calls, data and app usage and the related technical network parameters. P3 works in over 100 countries providing engineering and benchmark services which has allowed P3 to gain experience in collecting and analysing massive amounts of data. By analysing the data according to predefined KPIs, the benchmarking expert can provide information for the optimization of networks and also show if networks live up to expectation. Data scientists can drill down project-specific data sets and analyse them on a global scale.

Hakan Ekmen CEO P3 communications, says: “This agreement confirms the relevance of our crowd data and our ability to generate valuable insights. This make us very proud. I am sure that together, we will be able to further push the network development for enabling 5G.”

For the collection of crowd data, P3 has integrated a background diagnosis process into 800+ diverse Android apps. If one of these applications is installed on the end-user’s phone and the user authorizes the background analysis, data collection takes place 24/7, 365 days a year. This unique crowdsourcing technology allows P3 to collect data about real-world experience wherever and whenever customers use smartphones. The P3 frame work is a unique measure for management and supervisory boards to measure the performance and coverage of mobile networks and compare them with others. It has become the de-facto industry standard in more than 100 countries today.
