Cops begin probe over alleged poisoning of five dogs near Seremban

Police have started a probe into the alleged poisoning of five dogs in Lavender Heights near here after receiving a report on Saturday (Jan 5) night.

Seremban OCPD Asst Comm Thiew Hock Poh advised the public not to viral details of the case to enable the police to carry out its probe.

“A man who is the owner of one of the dogs lodged a report saying that his dog and two strays were believed to have been poisoned.

“We have already started our investigations and hope the public will stop sharing details of the case,” he said.

ACP Thiew said the case was being investigated under Section 428 of the Penal Code for mischief by killing or maiming animals which may extend to three years imprisonment or with a fine.

Five dogs were found dead in the neighbourhood after they were believed to have been poisoned between Jan 1 and 5.

An animal lover, who only wished to be known as Narin, said the dogs were believed to have been fed food laced with rat poison.

“Four were strays and one actually had an owner.

“Based on the information we received, we know who did this and we want the authorities to investigate them for animal cruelty,” he said.
