After Facebook, Apple Services Go Offline Too

Facebook services, including here Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp, experienced major issues earlier this week, and today, it was the turn of Apple to struggle with similar problems.

The majority of iCloud services went offline all of a sudden, including here iCloud Calendar, iCloud Backup, Find my iPhone, Game Center, and Photos.

Apple confirmed on the system status page that some of its services were indeed impacted by an issue, but the company did not provide any other specifics to explain what exactly went wrong and what caused the outage.

Services like the App Store, iMessage, News, and iOS device activation were not affected.

All services already restored, everything running normally

Both Apple Pay and Apple Cash customers were blocked from making transfers and payments. Apple confirmed the issue in a short message on the same page.

“Some Apple Pay card holders were not able to add, suspend, delete, or use existing cards in Apple Pay. Some users were not be able to set up Apple Cash, send and receive money, or transfer to bank with Apple Cash,” the Cupertino tech giant said.

Interestingly, there are also reports that the activity of the physical App Store was interrupted as well, as the staff could no longer process purchases. A confirmation, however, hasn’t been provided.

At the time of writing this article, all issues in the said Apple services have already been resolved, and the official system status page indicates that iCloud services are running normally, so you should also be able to use Apple Pay and Apple Cash for payments and transactions.

The Cupertino-based tech giant hasn’t provided any other details aside from what’s mentioned on the system status page, so it’s safe to assume that the company only experienced server issues, with no security risk involved.
