Apple Outs iOS/iPadOS 13.1.1 to Fix Security Issue for Third-Party Keyboard Apps

Apple released today a minor security update to the latest iOS 13.1 and iPadOS 13.1 operating systems for iPhone and iPad devices to address an important security issue, as well as several other bugs and regressions.

The iOS 13.1.1 and iPadOS 13.1.1 software updates are now available to download for all supported iPhone and iPad devices fixing a critical security issue that could allow third-party keyboard apps, such as Microsoft’s SwiftKey or Google’s GBoard, to get full access of the device.

On top of that, the iOS 13.1.1 and iPadOS 13.1.1 updates also fix issues that could prevent devices from restoring from backup, an issue that could cause the Reminders app to sync slowly, a Safari bug that would re-enable search suggestions, as well as an issue that could cause the battery to drain faster.

For the latest iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max devices, the iOS 13.1.1 software update also fixes an issue that could affect the recognition of Siri requests.

Users are urged to update their devices immediately

Even if they comes just a couple of days after the release of iOS 13.1 and iPadOS 13.1, the iOS 13.1.1 and iPadOS 13.1.1 software updates are very important and must be installed by all users. Therefore, we recommend all iPhone and iPad users to install them on their devices immediately.

To update your iPhone or iPad device to iOS 13.1.1 or iPadOS 13.1.1, simply open the Settings app, go to the General section and then tap on Software Update. You should immediately see the new version, so just tap on the “Download and Install” button to download and install it on your device.
