Apple Releases iOS 13.2.2 and iPadOS 13.2.2 to Fix Infamous Multitasking Bug

Apple releases today the iOS 13.2.2 and iPadOS 13.2.2 software updates for supported iPhone and iPad devices to address the infamous memory bug causing background refresh issues.

The iOS 13.2.2 and iPadOS 13.2.2 software updates are emergency releases pushed by Apple just a week after the release of iOS 13.2 and iPadOS 13.2 to address a memory issue affecting many iPhone and iPad users, which could cause apps to quit unexpectedly while running in the background.

In addition, the iOS 13.2.2 and iPadOS 13.2.2 updates address an issue that caused replies to S/MIME encrypted email messages between Exchange accounts to be unreadable, an issue where using the Kerberos single sign-on service in Safari may present an authentication prompt, as well as an issue where charging may be interrupted on YubiKey Lightning-powered accessories.

Users urged to update their devices as soon as possible

On top of that, the iOS 13.2.2 update also fixes an issue where iPhone devices may temporarily lose mobile signal after a call and another issue where mobile data may temporarily not be available. Apple recommends all iPhone and iPad users to update their devices to iOS 13.2.2 and iPadOS 13.2.2 as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Apple is working on another major update in the iOS 13 and iPadOS 13 operating system series, namely iOS 13.3 and iPadOS 13.3, which are currently available for beta testing. These were initially believe to contain a fix for that infamous memory issue, but it looks like it was more important than we thought so Apple pushed the fix now instead of later this year when iOS 13.3 and iPadOS 13.3 will hit the streets alongside tvOS 13.3, watchOS 6.1.1, and macOS Catalina 10.15.2.
