iOS 14 Concept Imagines New Call Screen, Split View, Multiple Accounts, and More

Now that people got bored of iOS 13, it’s time to remind Apple about the things we care most in the operating system the powers our iPhone devices.

A new concept video has surfaced for the next major iOS release, which should be unveiled by Apple in June 2020 during the WWDC 2020 event, iOS 14, designed entirely by YouTuber the Hacker 34. While this appears to be one of the first iOS 14 concepts, it tackles old features that Apple never implemented.

As you can see in the video attached below, the Hacker 34’s iOS 14 concept imagines a new, Android-like call screen UI that drops down from the top and can be dismissed if needed instead of covering the entire display and not letting the user do anything else on the iPhone screen. This is something Apple should consider for iOS 14.

Moreover, the iOS 14 concept proposes always-on display with complications à la Apple Watch, which might be useful, but it also depends on the display technology used by iPhone devices, Split View à la iPadOS so you can use two apps at the same time, along with the ability to drag and drop files from one app to another.

Another feature that never landed in iOS, nor iPadOS for that matter, is support for multiple accounts. Apple had a first tentative to multiple account with the latest tvOS 13 release for Apple TVs, but this might come in handy on iPhone and iPad devices as well, and the iOS 14 concept imagines it very well too.

However, both iOS and iPadOS currently let users add multiple accounts for certain services. For example, you can use one account for iCloud and another account for iTunes and App Store. But different user accounts with different setups it’s a whole different thing.

All new icons, new settings, and more

Among other things proposed in this iOS 14 concept, we can mention the ability to add GIFs from the iOS keyboard, the ability to set third-party apps as the default ones to open certain files, the ability to place icons on the home screen anywhere you want, even in the middle of the screen if that’s you’re thing, as well as all new, beatified icons.

You can see the whole iOS 14 concept designed by the Hacker 34 below, who we have to admit that he did a great job making this concept, which looks similar to one of Apple’s promos. Well, let’s hope Apple watches it too and implements at least some of these features that are currently missing in iOS and iPadOS. Fingers crossed!
