Google Waves Goodbye to Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL

Google has officially stopped selling the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, with the company now displaying the device as out of stock and redirecting users to the main website in the store.

The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are still available at third-party retailers, but without a doubt, it’s all just a matter of time until the device goes missing here as well, especially since it’s no longer manufactured.

In the meantime, Google is pushing hard for the Pixel 4 series, which makes total sense given it’s the company’s latest smartphone, but at the same time, the search giant is also preparing for an upgraded model likely coming later this year.

Google has confirmed for AP that the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are no longer available for purchase from the Google Store.

Updates still coming to the Pixel 3

What’s important to know, however, is that Google no longer selling the device doesn’t mean the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are both abandoned products. The two models can’t be purchased from Google (and soon from) third-party shops, but they will both continue to receive updates normally.

So if you currently have a Pixel 3, nothing changes in the short term, as Google will continue to service the device at the same pace as before.

As for those who wanted to get the Pixel 3, there’s not much they can do right now, other than look for a new unit at third-party retailers or get a used one from the likes of eBay. Of course, the recommended option is to get a Pixel 4, but this is obviously a bit more expensive, but comes with a series of benefits, including latest-generation hardware and capabilities that wouldn’t otherwise be possible on the 2018 model.
