I'm from the Commodore 64 era. Did a lot of 6502 programming back in the day. Having a baremetal system gave you so much freedom. I wrote a GUI interface for the C64 similar to this using text boxes with the ability to launch your own programs 🙂 Amazing job he did writing his own OS.
