Next Phase of Warga Telekom Malaysia Returns to Work

As more sectors have been opened and more restrictions have been lifted under the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO), Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) is now ready to move into the next phase of its Return to the Workplace (RTW) arrangement for Warga TM nationwide.

Taking a staggered approach, starting 1 July 2020, about 50% Warga Telekom Malaysia (TM) across all functions are allowed to come to their respective offices to resume their normal daily operations. TM’s Line of Businesses (LOBs) and divisions are to adopt a Split Team Working (STW) arrangement where the team members may be divided into two (2) teams, with one (1) team working from the office while the other works from home. The teams can then swap work locations on alternate weeks or alternate days. Warga TM are also advised to adopt a Flexihours arrangement to avoid overcrowding at the common areas and elevators particularly during clock-in, lunch hour and clock-out.

Commenting on the latest development, Group Chief Executive Officer of TM, Dato’ Noor Kamarul Anuar Nuruddin said: “We are happy and excited to progressively allow Warga TM to come to the office, as the situation of the Covid-19 outbreak in Malaysia has improved after several phases of Movement Control Order (MCO) enforced by the Government. This decision is also guided by the feedback received from our internal surveys conducted on special working arrangements and productivity during the MCO period. Nevertheless, the war has not been won yet, so we are still taking precautionary measures where only about 50% or slightly more of the total team members of each division are allowed to come to the office at a particular time. As such, STW or other suitable working arrangements depending on the division’s function, will be implemented. Nevertheless, the health and wellbeing of our employees remain our utmost priority, so Warga TM with any critical illness and above the age of 55, as well as those with childcare issues, are highly encouraged to continue to work from home.”

Besides that, all Warga Telekom Malaysia (TM) who are coming to the office are urged to continue observing the guidelines set by the National Security Council (NSC) and Ministry of Health (MoH). This includes the mandatory submission of their daily Health Declaration via an internally developed mobile app – Covid-19 Alert @ TM, exercising the social distancing rule and practicing good hygiene while in the office.

“We hope with this next phase of our RTW arrangement, TM will be able to quickly settle into the new normal and with the support from all our Warga TM, the Company will #ReturnStronger. As a national provider of essential services, we will continue to adapt our operations to ensure the safety of our employees within the guidelines and restrictions guided by the Government. We remain committed to enabling Malaysia rebuild its economy via connectivity and digital solutions, and to deliver smooth continuity of our services for Malaysians nationwide,” he added.

With regard to its service operations, Telekom Malaysia (TM) had earlier resumed unifi service installation and restoration activities; including those at customers’ premises in all areas, except for those in the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) areas. All TMpoint outlets nationwide have also reopened, in adherence to the necessary safety protocols as per the guidelines set by the MoH, NSC and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

In ensuring that all its customers stay served, unifi contact centre as well as other contact centres servicing multiple key enterprises and public sectors have also resumed its normal operation hours.

TM’s support team is readily available and, as always, customers can reach out to TM for enquiries and assistance via its multiple customer service channels. TM will continually monitor for developments on the ongoing situation and adapt its services to help customers, whenever needed.
