Huawei Malaysia TECH4ALL Remote Education

Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (Huawei) launched its digital inclusion initiative, TECH4ALL in collaboration with the #IMfutures initiative, in partnership with Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and strategic partners.

The TECH4ALL Remote Education was launched by Huawei Malaysia and partners at the Indera Mahkota Digital Festival where Zac Chow, Vice President of Huawei Malaysia Carrier Network Business Group presented the Huawei IdeaHub Smart Screen to YB Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah, Minister of Communications and Multimedia and Member of Parliament for Indera Mahkota. The Smart Screen will be used at selected schools throughout Indera Mahkota.

YB Dato’ Saifuddin lauded the collaboration between Huawei Malaysia, #IMfutures and partners, stating that strategic partnerships could accelerate progress in Malaysia’s digital transformation agenda, and it is timely for the country to move towards digital learning.

“The overarching vision is to create a society which is connected, informed, creative and has embraced the digital culture. The COVID-19 pandemic presents us the opportunity to accelerate digitalization where we focus our efforts on increasing digital access, and opportunities to all levels of society, ensuring that no one is marginalized from opportunities. This can be achieved by leveraging on industry leaders’ expertise and embracing new technology innovations to enhance the education ecosystem, nurture interest and produce multi-skilled, digital ready talent,” he added.

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way education is conducted. These unprecedented times highlighted the digital divide, where fortunate communities can adapt digital transformation solutions quickly to address remote education where other communities are left behind. As a technology company, Huawei Malaysia is launching the TECH4ALL Remote Education initiative to bridge the gap by focusing efforts on connectivity, applications and skills.

“Huawei believes that it is our responsibility to utilize our resources and technology to support the Malaysian government in bridging the digital divide and in developing ICT talents for future jobs in a digitized world,” said Chow.

“We believe in the power of technology to make education more accessible and inclusive, allowing everyone to benefit from quality education. By digitizing schools through the TECH4ALL initiative, education is no longer bound to the traditional classroom. The schools in Indera Mahkota will now be able to run smart classrooms with high-quality education resources, for students and teachers to grow their digital skills. We hope to partner with the government to expand the reach of this initiative and to help advance the nation’s digital transformation through education technology,” he added.

Huawei IdeaHub Smart Screen is an intelligent endpoint that integrates multiple functions including multi-screen collaboration between mobiles and PCs, interactive whiteboard, remote collaboration and Full High Definition video conferencing. The integrated functions support flexible online learning, bringing lessons to life and enables students to participate in various projects and learn digital skills. In addition, the teachers are also able to utilize the platform and technology to share high-quality learning and training content online easily and conveniently.

Huawei TECH4ALL iat bridging the digital divide in education by leveraging on its technology to provide high-quality education resources to students and empower teachers to enhance their digital skills. This is also part of an ongoing effort to support one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals to address ‘quality education’ – ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
