I love my regular 12 PRO! Had a note 10+ and XS Max before and i really appreciate the size. It’s just the sweetspot of size and comfort.
Even the Max model has a better camera and better battery performance. I not regret it.

Talking about value on iPhones. iPhones actually give you a total better value than an Android phones, since the selling price is damn high. I'm still on my P20 Pro since October 2018. The phone came out costing 899€ in March, just after 5 months I got it for 645€. If I would sell it, I'd almost get nothing out of it. It's used in a great condition, looks almost new, but the warranty expired and suddenly my fingerprint sensor stopped working (not sure if software or hardware failure) after the expiration. I'm sure in a few years you can still sell a iPhone 12 Pro Max for 1k
