MyTelehaus to build two New Data Centres in Cyberjaya

Local data centre provider, MyTelehaus Data Centres Sdn Bhd signed the Sales & Purchase (S&P) Agreement with Cyberview Sdn Bhd (Cyberview), Cyberjaya’s tech hub developer to purchase a land plot in Cyberjaya measuring 1.72 acres with future expansion on another plot measuring 1.96 acres for the development of data centres.

“Our decision to expand further and build these new data centres stems from our local and overseas customers’ need to increase their technology capacity to meet the changes in the way we work, live and play in recent times. We have grown significantly since we first started 8 years ago in Cyberjaya, thanks to its affordable world-class infrastructure and incentives for growing businesses like us. Not to mention, the solid support we have received over the year from the government and Cyberview that has contributed to our growth and plans forward,” said Terry Ho, director of MyTelehaus Data Centres Sdn Bhd.

MyTelehaus will design and build a hyper scale data centre up to 20MW with future expansion of another data centre with upgradeable and lower density requirements. The construction of the data centres is set to begin in early 2021.

Najib Ibrahim, Managing Director of Cyberview, said, “We witnessed several announcements on new data centre constructions this year by both local and MNCs in Cyberjaya which is a result of the acceleration in digital transformation efforts. The new normal calls for companies to not only build and increase their capacities but explore innovative ways to capture new opportunities and value creation for their customers. We are glad that MyTelehaus is expanding further and benefitting from Cyberjaya’s attractive ecosystem and offerings.”

“To date, 60 percent of data centres in Malaysia are based in Cyberjaya. As a Global Tech Hub, Cyberjaya is the ideal city for organisations to expand, grow, and succeed as it offers a thriving collaborative ecosystem with access to infrastructure, incentives, human capital, and regulatory support. This year, we have introduced a new master plan to drive forth the city’s innovative ecosystem with strategic and collaborative initiatives to spur R&D&C activities centred on technology clusters such as smart mobility, smart healthcare and digital creative. Our goal is to create a unique identity for the smart city as a preferred tech investment location,” he added.

In realising its goals, Cyberview recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) to leverage each other’s capabilities and strength in capitalising domestic direct investment (DDI) and foreign direct investment (FDI) opportunities in Malaysia as their choice location for high and deep technology projects.

The cost of the land and the data centre was not disclosed.
