The Mastercard Gamer Academy is Open for Submissions


Gaming and esports enthusiasts worldwide now have an extraordinary opportunity to elevate their passion to a profession with the launch of the Mastercard Gamer Academy. This groundbreaking development initiative, spearheaded by Mastercard, aims to empower 10 gamers by providing them with invaluable connections, mentorship, and skill sets necessary to pursue a career in esports. More than just a career launchpad, the academy is committed to fostering a more inclusive gaming ecosystem.

With over three billion individuals identifying as gamers, the gaming community transcends age, gender, and background. Notably, the demographic of gamers over 45 surpasses those under 18, and women constitute nearly 50% of the entire gaming population. Despite these impressive numbers, breaking into professional roles remains a challenge for many individuals.

Commencing in early 2024, the Mastercard Gamer Academy offers participants a multifaceted experience, including:

  • All-expense paid trips to major esports events, including backstage access at the 2024 League of Legends World Championship and 2024 Valorant Champions, as well as the G2 Esports headquarters in Berlin.
  • Access to seasoned esports professionals, including the G2 Hel, Gozen and the men’s League of Legends and Valorant teams.
  • In-person and digital sessions with notable mentors, with select workshops focusing on mental health, resilience and allyship.
