Lenovo Malaysia & Rise Against Hunger provides 20,000 meals for people in need

MALAYSIA, 2 May 2018 – Lenovo, the world’s leading PC manufacturer, and Rise Against Hunger, an international hunger relief non-profit organization, joined forces in the fight against hunger. More than 100 Lenovo employees participated in a meal packing event in conjunction with Lenovo Malaysia’s inaugural Make A Difference week.

Over 20,000 highly nutritious meals comprising rice, soy, and vegetables were packed at the event. These dehydrated meals are then distributed by Rise Against Hunger to local schools as part of their school feeding initiative and other programs that promote self-sufficiency.

“It is a privilege to work with Rise Against Hunger to provide aid to the needy. As a global business with operations all over the world, we believe that it is our responsibility to give back to the community in which we conduct business in,” said Khoo Hung Chuan, Country General Manager of Lenovo Malaysia. “I am pleased to see the effort and dedication demonstrated by everyone at Lenovo Malaysia’s first Make A Difference week. As Lenovo’s business continues to grow in Malaysia, I hope to see more of such collaboration for the betterment of the local community we work in.”

Formerly known as the ‘Motorola Mobility Foundation’, Make A Difference week was first launched in 2017 by the Lenovo Foundation to coordinate worldwide corporate philanthropy and community volunteer projects.

This year, more than 28 cities across 26 countries in North America, EMEA, Latin America and Asia Pacific participated in the cause. Closer to home, Lenovo Japan hosted an educational workshop in programming for students at its office; while Lenovo India helped the visually impaired by creating audio recordings for educational purposes.
