Workz becomes GSMA-certified e-SIM factory

Workz Group, the mobile solutions and serialized software specialist based in Dubai Production City, has become the Middle East and Africa’s first manufacturer to be certified by the GSMA for production of the SIM with eUICC software – a key component in the Internet of Things (IoT) sector that will enable the remote management of devices over cellular networks.  Workz becomes only the sixth manufacturer in the world to currently carry this accreditation.

The certification of Workz as a eUICC manufacturer (otherwise known as EUM) by the GSMA, comes about following a rigorous and comprehensive security audit of its Dubai SIM production and development centre.  The security accreditation awarded to Workz provides mobile network operators, device manufacturers, technology enablers, and other businesses looking to benefit from the new IoT technology with a guarantee that its SIM chips are manufactured to the highest level of security and in compliance to international standards for compatibility.

The company currently employs over 250 full-time staff and last year manufactured over 1.5 billion telecom products such as SIM cards and scratch cards in addition to providing over-the-air remote management services for SIMs and IoT devices.  For the last two years, it has been recognised as the world’s largest recharge card manufacturer.

Commenting on the new accreditation, co-CEO Brad Taylor said, “To be the first GSMA EUM certified facility in the region and only sixth in the world is great news for Workz.  It’s a remarkable achievement for our team and a key milestone in our eSIM, remote SIM provisioning and IoT solutions roadmap”.  Co-CEO Tor Malmros added “Quality and security are essential for our clients and by adding yet another internationally recognised certification of best-practice only reinforces our commitment to product and service excellence.  We are always looking forward and our processes are already compliant to the GSMA’s SAS subscription management certification for eSIM, which is the next accreditation we will be seeking to ensure our clients have the utmost confidence in all our solutions”
