The Auditor-General’s Report on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) has been declassified and an executive summary of the report can now be downloaded from the National Audit Department website.
In January 2016, the 1MDB audit report was submitted to Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
However, it was classified under the Official Secrets Act and MPs in the PAC were later only allowed to study the report but not release any of its details.
It was presented to the Dewan Rakyat on April 7, 2016.
However, the 1MDB audit report was not presented together with the PAC report, leaving many opposition MPs questioning the need to classify it under the OSA.
Last week, Malaysia Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the Auditor-General’s report into 1MDB would be declassified.
