Someone Just Showed Microsoft How to Make Windows 10 the OS Everybody Loves

Concept designers often come with brilliant ideas that envision new features or improvements that make sense in the Windows world, but what Genrole Caspe, an UI/UX designer, did was show Microsoft how it needs to completely redesign its operating system.

His concept, which uses a pretty straightforward name – Re-imagining the Windows Experience – proposes a set of refinements for Windows 10 that completely change the look and feel of the operating system.

The Fluent Design language is further enhanced with additional visual touches, and now the taskbar is divided into multiple parts to boast an approach that makes sense given the separate elements that it hosts, such as the search box. Cortana now has a new home in the lower right corner, a change that Microsoft itself was believed to be pondering, and the Start menu gets a massive redesign that everyone will undoubtedly love.

The live tiles are also getting a refresh with what the designer calls “app widgets”: “Interact with your apps directly from the Launcher without opening them. Make the Start menu full yours.”

As a matter of fact, there’s a chance live tiles would go away at some point in the future, as Microsoft is believed to be looking into a more static approach similar to the one in Windows 10X. This is because not a lot of people use live tiles, it seems, so removing them would provide more consistency across operating systems going forward.

This concept is without a doubt one of the best we’ve seen in a long time, and even though there’s a good chance Windows 10 never ends up looking like this, Microsoft would definitely do itself a favor should it decide to borrow some ideas.

The designer says it’s already working on more updates for his Windows 10 concept, but in the meantime, you can see the existing version in the video below.
